- Description
Titled Lotus Pedestal, this work references a form commonly found in both Buddhist and Hindu traditions, where the lotus base supports sacred figures and symbolizes stability and continuity. Rather than depicting the object directly, Ha abstracts its mass and weight on the canvas surface, shaping the object by applying multiple layers of dark pigment, and ultimately creating a dense, textured field that resembles stone or compacted earth. The fine network of cracks across the surface results from controlled drying and abrasion, revealing underlying tones of gray, charcoal, and subtle brown.
