Live Oak is a 245-acre historic landscape in Louisiana’s Tunica Hills, where cultural heritage and ecological restoration converge on a former plantation anchored by the historic Tunica Trace trading route intersecting the site and an 1810 home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 2021, the site has undergone significant renewal: removing invasive plant species by hand, restoring over 80 acres of native meadow, and reviving woodlands through careful stewardship. Our current goal is to stabilize and restore the historic main house while transforming the property into a model for regenerating depleted agricultural land into resilient ecological corridors. With plans to place 237 acres under permanent conservation, Live Oak aims to serve as a living laboratory for cultural understanding, environmental restoration, and long-term community benefit.
