Horizontally oriented and asymmetrical, the elongated, tapering form suggests erosion and passage, resembling an object worn down by wind or water and shaped through gradual loss rather than accumulation. Cut edges, dripping glaze, and softened contours evoke natural decay and continual change, reinforcing a sense of impermanence.
The surface bears the unmistakable marks of Kakurezaki’s process, cut and reassembled clay animated by ash deposits, flashing, and subtle tonal variation produced during high-temperature wood firing.
